Long Drives – In the Hills and Snow

Last week, 2 of my friends and I planned a 3 days trip to Kasauli, Chail and Kufri. We started with Kasauli and then went to Kufri and then to Chail and then back to Chandigarh. I’m into traveling and I never get tired of it. I keep on traveling, it could be due to my work reasons or it could be my own planned trips. Here I’m sharing few glimpses with you all from my recent trip to the hills of Himachal.

kasauli-hills-himachal-1

This place is called Kasauli, a small and beautiful hill station, around 60 Km from Chandigarh. We stayed there for a night before heading ahead. The view is clicked from the Hotel’s balcony where I stayed.

kufri-himachal-snowfall-3

From Kasauli, we headed to Kufri, there was snow all over the way, and it is always risky to drive under such circumstances. So I decided to park my car at a safe place, and then we all walked few Km up to Kufri to enjoy this scenic place and nature’s paradise.

So after walking few KMs, we reached Kufri, and the view in Kufri was amazing with snow all over  the place. It had fresh snowfall just an hour back when we reached there.

Here, it’s me with a friend 🙂

This is Chail, a peaceful, less explored and beautiful hill station, I loved this scenic view all over the way while I was driving there.

We stayed in Chail for a night and then started driving back to Home in the morning. It is always good to spend some quality time in the serenity of nature.

Dharamshala (India)

Since 2 days I’m staying at this place called Dharamshala, in the lap of Himalayas, a beautiful town. Today is the last day here, as I’m leaving tomorrow morning, been here many times. Just sharing a random picture clicked today in the afternoon, look at those clouds, I just love to gaze at those clouds floating and rolling over the hills and get lost in serenity of the nature. It’s a nice place to lose yourself in the nature for a while.

Random Click #2

somewhere in solan

Today’s day out, somewhere over the hills.

Perfect Day, It Was!

It has been drizzling here in Chandigarh since yesterday, and for me it’s a relief from the scorching heat. Temperature has dropped down to 26 degree Celsius, and today in the morning while I was standing on my balcony looking at the falling rain drops, I felt like to get into the hills just for enjoying the weather and the day, it was just a random urge. So I called up a friend to accompany me, picked up the key of my vehicle, and started to drive through the drizzle up to the hills with the music full on and the windscreen wipers in action, haha! I went up to Kasauli, a small beautiful hill station around 40 miles from my place, spent few hours there, gazed through the rain and mist to the beauty of nature, got drenched little and of course that fresh cool breeze on the face was rejuvenating, two hours of perfect nature therapy it was and then I came back to home.

Now while I’m writing this post sitting on my balcony relishing the weather, it is still drizzling here, I’m listening to music and sipping green tea, and thinking about few things. Here’s something I would like to write about what is running inside my mind :

Somewhere, I read that ‘traveling is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness’. I just do not agree with this statement, I mean, then how about “those” rich people who travels all around the world and are full of prejudice and are still with narrow-minds. This statement doesn’t make sense to me, you can learn a lot from traveling only when you are open to exploring things, open to growth, understanding, experiencing and learning new things, and know how to appreciate or relish even little things too and yes of course, willing to put your ideas, thoughts and yourself out for judgment, and not getting negatively affected by wrong judgments despite learning lesson from it if there is any to learn else leaving it behind.

Now ending up this post, and leaving you with this beautiful piece of music by Pearl Jam, I had a great day, you too enjoy and have a wonderful time ~ Vikas Sharma

Mcleod Ganj, A Fine Hill Station

Just came back home a day before after an official visit to one of the finest hill station, that is Mcleod Ganj. It’s a small and beautiful hill station in Dharamshala (situated in Himachal Pradesh, India).

There is a 10Km long Trek known as Triund around Mcleod Ganj, I really wished if I could go for it but as it was an official visit for some official work I didn’t get time for it but I will come back once again just to do this beautiful trek up to the Triund Hills.

Just in case, any of you planning to go there then for your information I would like to share few things to visit in Mcloead Ganj like Tsuglagkhang Complex, Bhagsunag Waterfall, Dal Lake, St. John in the Wilderness, Bhagsunag Temple, and also there are some treks worth to pay a visit at least once like Triund Trek with a majestic view of Dhauladhar mountain Range.

McLeod Ganj is also a residence of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the site of the Tibetan exile community’s main temple. The Tibetan government-in-exile is based just downhill at Gangchen Kyishong, and McLeod is home to a large Tibetan population, including many monks and nuns, and due to large population of Tibetans it is also known as Little Lhasa or Dhasa; a short form of Dharamshala used mainly by Tibetans.

Mcleod Ganj has some very magnificent views of nature with snow clad hills around it, and one can find many activities and things to do in McLeod Ganj like day hikes/trekking, camping, strolling around the hills and watching the scenic beauty of nature, spending some peaceful time in the lap of nature, also there you’ll find workshops and volunteer opportunities too.

Traveling Expands Mind

Traveling is one of the thing which expands mind, I’m not saying it’s the only way but it’s just one of the thing which can. Traveling is one of the way through which a person may gain new perspective and may find much about the world and about himself/herself too. Traveling will make you much flexible, opens mind to new things and will make you a better person. Traveling will help you to understand yourself more and the world too, when you tread on a trial alone you actually walk with your thoughts or when you sit by side a lake you actually sit with your thoughts and as you’re alone you will have time to work on your thoughts and to introspect more. Whereas when you travel with someone or with a group you have different experiences, actually when you travel with a person or with a group, it brings everyone closer as you share new experiences together, in both ways you will again a lot in your travels.

Best experiences are often not planned or schedule. Yes! Traveling is full of unexpected things, things which you may cherish in future, things which you never have expected to feel, see or experience, you may learn new things and more. When you travel you look at things in a different way with your own perspective, which may creates some thoughts in your mind and you will feel a wider possibility to understand things better.Yes! You may encounter with things like that or a lot of other things, some can be amazingly enlightening things. Whatever be it, good or bad you will gain experience, wisdom and moreover your experiences will make you more stronger person.

I always wish to travel more and more, to see the things or the world through different angle but at the present I travel mostly due to official reasons only, haha! I’m always up to go out for a trekking in the hills, I love to be in the nature, or to somewhere where I can explore more or can see new things and can have wonderful experiences. There is a different pleasure to get out of your comfort zone and then exploring the things or the world, and to watch and experience wonderful things which you haven’t seen before. Here I’m posting few pictures from my travels. I’m neither a photographer nor I know much about photography, I’m just sharing pictures with you all and by the way all the pictures are clicked somewhere in the hills of Himachal Pradesh 🙂

Peace and World

Recently, I’ve spent few days in the hills of Himachal, few days in Shimla and few days in Mandi. Weather was rainy as it is a rainy season in that part of the Earth from June to September which can be problematic for the locals or maybe they’re use to it. Actually, I was there on some kind of official visit not to travel, enjoy and explore things but still I managed few moments to stroll around the place.

Shimla

Shimla

I find serenity and pleasure when I watch those hills and clouds, maybe because I love to be in the nature as it nourishes my mind with positive thoughts.

Expand The Horizon-Shimla3

Shimla

Some may find hills better to travel or some may find plains, some may find both or some may find nothing. I think it actually depends on how a person perceives things; a person won’t find peace anywhere if there is no peace in the mind.

Mandi

Mandi

Positive state of mind is obviously needed to have peace in mind, with peace in mind we realizes the real beauty of things.

Mandi

Mandi

The best thing which I love to do is traveling to different places, to watch the sun at different horizons, to feel the gentle cool breeze on the face, to watch the clouds forming different formations, to explore and relish beauty of the planet, to learn from the things around me, and of course sometimes to write down my thoughts and experiences too. Yes! I love and enjoy being in the nature and exploring the things.

Constant Waterfall

Constant waterfall of myriad words

Cascade down the hills shrouded in clouds

Intrigued to know, scouted the area

What can it be, can anybody answer?

In the dark! I peered into the stream

It’s not what you perceive, somebody screamed

In a complete daze,

I moved closer to the stream in amaze

The dream gets tensor then I awake

That constant waterfall is in our minds, I realized

The words are our thoughts, I unearthed

The hills are trail, on which we tread

The clouds are obstacle, to which we meet
