Long Drives – In the Hills and Snow

Last week, 2 of my friends and I planned a 3 days trip to Kasauli, Chail and Kufri. We started with Kasauli and then went to Kufri and then to Chail and then back to Chandigarh. I’m into traveling and I never get tired of it. I keep on traveling, it could be due to my work reasons or it could be my own planned trips. Here I’m sharing few glimpses with you all from my recent trip to the hills of Himachal.

kasauli-hills-himachal-1

This place is called Kasauli, a small and beautiful hill station, around 60 Km from Chandigarh. We stayed there for a night before heading ahead. The view is clicked from the Hotel’s balcony where I stayed.

From Kasauli, we headed to Kufri, there was snow all over the way, and it is always risky to drive under such circumstances. So I decided to park my car at a safe place, and then we all walked few Km up to Kufri to enjoy this scenic place and nature’s paradise.

So after walking few KMs, we reached Kufri, and the view in Kufri was amazing with snow all over  the place. It had fresh snowfall just an hour back when we reached there.

Here, it’s me with a friend 🙂

This is Chail, a peaceful, less explored and beautiful hill station, I loved this scenic view all over the way while I was driving there.

We stayed in Chail for a night and then started driving back to Home in the morning. It is always good to spend some quality time in the serenity of nature.

It’s Beautiful to Enjoy Solitude

Expand The Horizon

It’s better to be in solitude for a while at times than having meaningless conversations over and over with someone whom you don’t want to spend your time with. Here I’m not talking about avoiding conversation with anyone; I’m just talking about having exhausting and meaningless conversations, and about solitude.

I find it better to figure out myself, do the things I want to do, lost in my thoughts, traveling, strolling around the places alone than being with someone who is faking, irritating or with whom I find it difficult to share time over unnecessary conversations. It’s meaningless and exhausting to spend time with people you really don’t want to spend your time with, and whereas sometimes it’s beautiful and enlightening to even enjoy solitude, and of course it is easy to enjoy solitude only when it isn’t forced.

It’s Beautiful to Enjoy Solitude

There is a different pleasure, tranquility and power in being able to find contentment in solitude and if you are able to be content or cheerful in your alone times then even in the emptiest times in your life you can find serenity and happiness. It’s only you who can turn aloneness into good solitude, the good solitude has a constructive purpose, it may still hurt occasionally but if you know what it’s for, how it can be utilized and how it can be good for you, then the solitude can be enjoyable and would teach you something worth to learn.

By all this I just want to say, you don’t always need someone around you, as sometimes it’s good to be in solitude and to expand our horizons we need to go through both the phases. I’m not suggesting solitude is better than being with people. I’m just expressing what I feel and have experienced, sometimes it’s impossible to completely avoid aloneness in life, but remember it’s worth being open to get in solitude for a while till you get around someone to whom you can connect well than spending time with someone over meaningless conversations.

Perfect Day, It Was!

It has been drizzling here in Chandigarh since yesterday, and for me it’s a relief from the scorching heat. Temperature has dropped down to 26 degree Celsius, and today in the morning while I was standing on my balcony looking at the falling rain drops, I felt like to get into the hills just for enjoying the weather and the day, it was just a random urge. So I called up a friend to accompany me, picked up the key of my vehicle, and started to drive through the drizzle up to the hills with the music full on and the windscreen wipers in action, haha! I went up to Kasauli, a small beautiful hill station around 40 miles from my place, spent few hours there, gazed through the rain and mist to the beauty of nature, got drenched little and of course that fresh cool breeze on the face was rejuvenating, two hours of perfect nature therapy it was and then I came back to home.

Now while I’m writing this post sitting on my balcony relishing the weather, it is still drizzling here, I’m listening to music and sipping green tea, and thinking about few things. Here’s something I would like to write about what is running inside my mind :

Somewhere, I read that ‘traveling is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness’. I just do not agree with this statement, I mean, then how about “those” rich people who travels all around the world and are full of prejudice and are still with narrow-minds. This statement doesn’t make sense to me, you can learn a lot from traveling only when you are open to exploring things, open to growth, understanding, experiencing and learning new things, and know how to appreciate or relish even little things too and yes of course, willing to put your ideas, thoughts and yourself out for judgment, and not getting negatively affected by wrong judgments despite learning lesson from it if there is any to learn else leaving it behind.

Now ending up this post, and leaving you with this beautiful piece of music by Pearl Jam, I had a great day, you too enjoy and have a wonderful time ~ Vikas Sharma

Traveling Expands Mind

Traveling is one of the thing which expands mind, I’m not saying it’s the only way but it’s just one of the thing which can. Traveling is one of the way through which a person may gain new perspective and may find much about the world and about himself/herself too. Traveling will make you much flexible, opens mind to new things and will make you a better person. Traveling will help you to understand yourself more and the world too, when you tread on a trial alone you actually walk with your thoughts or when you sit by side a lake you actually sit with your thoughts and as you’re alone you will have time to work on your thoughts and to introspect more. Whereas when you travel with someone or with a group you have different experiences, actually when you travel with a person or with a group, it brings everyone closer as you share new experiences together, in both ways you will again a lot in your travels.

Best experiences are often not planned or schedule. Yes! Traveling is full of unexpected things, things which you may cherish in future, things which you never have expected to feel, see or experience, you may learn new things and more. When you travel you look at things in a different way with your own perspective, which may creates some thoughts in your mind and you will feel a wider possibility to understand things better.Yes! You may encounter with things like that or a lot of other things, some can be amazingly enlightening things. Whatever be it, good or bad you will gain experience, wisdom and moreover your experiences will make you more stronger person.

I always wish to travel more and more, to see the things or the world through different angle but at the present I travel mostly due to official reasons only, haha! I’m always up to go out for a trekking in the hills, I love to be in the nature, or to somewhere where I can explore more or can see new things and can have wonderful experiences. There is a different pleasure to get out of your comfort zone and then exploring the things or the world, and to watch and experience wonderful things which you haven’t seen before. Here I’m posting few pictures from my travels. I’m neither a photographer nor I know much about photography, I’m just sharing pictures with you all and by the way all the pictures are clicked somewhere in the hills of Himachal Pradesh 🙂

Art, Adventure, Traveling, Exploration and Nature Connection

I believe and have experienced that we can expand our mind through art, adventure, traveling, exploration and nature connection. Every time when I travel into the nature, it opens my mind to more radical thoughts and gives me incredible sensation and joy, it gives me more positivity in my thoughts and makes me feel so serene from within. Every time when I travel into the nature, it makes me to think more peacefully and to question everything, it makes me feel that our everyday perceptions are only a tiny fraction of reality and everything is nothing with a twist.

Through art, adventure, traveling, exploration and nature connection we can expand our understanding of complicated maze that is the human and of course of the world around us too. Through any of these we may get more clear perception of the surrounding world and new possibilities to interpret it. It can broadened our views on life and can make us think in an entirely different way. I love to have adventures and love to be in the nature whenever I can be. I wish I could travel more not just into the nature but to all the places worth to see, feel and explore, haha! It’s just few things which keep me restricting from traveling most of the time else I would have been a traveler all the time, roaming around the world just to feel the rays of sun from different horizons, just to explore more, just to watch sunset and sunrise at different horizons, just to gain new experiences,  just to feel and understand the life and the world more.

I was just wondering… (repost)

Vikas Sharma - Change by actsJust publishing one of my old post again!

So here I go, have a good read:

I was just wondering how one can live his life to the fullest and this made me to put this blog in front of you all. There are many things which we can do to live our life to the fullest, why settle for anything less if you deserve something better? We all deserve the best and to get the best out of our life, we all should keep developing ourselves. Try to find pleasure in everything around you, it’s a beautiful world if you know there to look. Love every bit of your life to the fullest whether it is pleasant or not as it belongs to you, somehow you are the man who is responsible for creating all these moment around you! Always relish in the little moments because these little moments make your life complete.  Spending time with your family and friends, snuggling under warm covers on a rainy day, ice cream on a hot day, a kiss with your loved one, a walk by the park, gentle breeze on your face, sometimes getting drenched in the rain, quiet alone time, calling someone after a long time; feel all these little moments and if possible, try new things. What’s something you would normally not do? Get out of your comfort zone, try something different. It can be something simple like instantly planning to visit a place with your friends, taking a new route, any surprise to your friends or to your family members, trying a new food item which you have never tried, picking up a new interest or hobby. There are many things; you can try something bigger, like studying a different field, traveling to a place you have never thought to visit, exploring any unknown place. You know, there is a lot to explore; there is a lot to learn and experience.

As Steve Jobs said ~ “Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Life is too short to do anything else you don’t like. Sometimes, situation doesn’t favor us to do the things we love to do but never give up easily. Try to do the things you love because who knows maybe someday you will get what you want! We all have certain things in our life which gives us fulfillment and happiness; try to spend time on those things. Never stop learning from your surroundings, there is something to learn from everything you see, hear and experience. This includes everything like your mistakes, misconceptions or anything you did wrong in your past, i mean if any! Learn from all these mishaps and surely it will make you a better person than you were in past. I think, nobody is perfect and practice can’t make anybody perfect but practice is one of the things which make you better and better. So never stop practicing to become a better person. There is one more thing which can help you to become a better person and that is criticism. Try to learn from criticism and be open to criticism but don’t be affected by it. Criticism is meant to help you to be a better person. There are many things which can contribute to our betterment. And if there’s anything you don’t like about someone, say it to him in the face or otherwise, don’t say it at all. Backbiting is not a nice thing to do. We are human beings and there are lots of things which we face in our day to day life. Try to understand and feel another person’s feelings, try to be empathetic. If everyone only sees life from his own perspective, we’ll forever be close-minded and insular. See things from others’ shoes. Be a compassionate person, show compassion and kindness to everyone around you.

As said by Dalai Lama ~ “Compassion is something really worthwhile. It is not just a religious or spiritual subject, not a matter of ideology. It is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Compassion and love are precious things in life. They are not complicated: they are simple, but difficult to practice.”

I must want to say this that without creativity and art earth would be just dull. Fall into any kind of art. Art can make our life more bearable, art is a way to grow our soul and art can teach you many things about the life. Creativity is one of those things which make us superior than other living beings on our planet. Creativity makes our life different. So focus on creation, think about what you can bring to the world, and try to create it! There will be lots of people who might appreciate your creativity and art. Bring changes in yourself, we live in a world where we have so many things to do, there are so many taboos in our society, there are many things we want to change in the world. As in simple words, be the change you want to see in the world. The only person you can change is yourself, stop expecting others to behave in a certain way. Rather than expecting that others around you change, focus on changing yourself.

Let the people who’ve touched you know of your gratitude towards them, so express gratitude. If you don’t tell them, they’ll never know; expressing gratitude makes a positive connection. Let loose and have fun, hanging out with your friends or family, sing at the top of your lungs, dance in the rain, watching movie with your beloved ones, sometimes breaking your limits, Getting into nature and feel it, smile more. Are you reading this with a straight face? Smile and have fun. It’s only through being the best we can live our life to the fullest and if life is hard then live it hard and enjoy it to the fullest. Love yourself; you are the person who will live with you for the rest of your whole life. Treasure and love yourself!  Love others; be grateful for all the people around you because they help you to grow. They enrich your life experience. At last I want to say, Love life, living a life is fascinating experience; and I believe our life should be composed of these five things: Live, Explore, Learn, Create and Share.

Conquering Yourself

When you tread on the paths in the mountains, when you walk in the woods ingrained with silence, when you gaze to the mountains covered with snow, when you are in between the trees, trees standing tall with pride as if they owns the mountain, mountain in which their roots cuddle the soil, when you sit by near a calm waterfall under a moon light, when you listen to the proud roar of river flowing in the valley then it will generate some precious thoughts in your head, just try to watch inside yourself. Traveling in the mountains is one of those things where it’s between you and the mountains. There will be no one to cheer you up to climb it, it has nothing to do with the fame and the name and it’s not about running from the things. It’s about conquering yourself.

If You Seek, You Will Find

Sometimes, the thing which looks beautiful can be deceiving. Sometimes, the path which looks perfect can be misleading. Sometimes, things aren’t what we or other assume about it. There is a great pride of traveling to a place where we haven’t been before, a place which is full of beauty, surprises and adventures but that doesn’t mean we have to travel all alone into the wild to make a life over there, and that’s too just because you don’t like the way society or the human’s world works. Yes! Society is crazy, but running away from it is not a solution. We don’t have to run away from it, we don’t have to live up in solitariness, in isolation; we don’t have to travel alone in the solitariness or go die in middle of nowhere just to have a fulfilled life, or just to live up a life out of this sick and crazy world.  If you’re not happy where you’re, you will not be happy anywhere. My point is what has to change is our minds; the way we think. Open your mind by seeking the truth and you will find fulfilled life. If you seek, you will find. It’s your ride on the planet earth, and only you’re in charge of it. So keep enjoying your ride, keep exploring the world, keep traveling, or keeping doing the things you like to do not just as an escape from the world, but a part of your ride on this beautiful planet.
