Descendant of Stars

We are not separate from the Universe, it’s within all of us, we are linked to it and everything which has existence belongs to the Universe. In the silence of night, have a look at the clear sky, look at those celestial bodies in the Universe sparkling like a diamond, see with the perception of interconnectedness, or see through the eyes of wonders, or see with an enlightened attitude. We are linked to those celestial bodies, we made up of the star dust, we all have connection with the stars, and we are the descendant of stars.

We all are made up of matter present in the universe, we are all interconnected to each other, and everything you do right now can affects someone. Our thinking, words, posture, attitude, everything ripples outward and can affect others. Our body, our thoughts, our brain, our emotions, our consciousness are inextricably linked with the matter in the universe, and with the other humans on our very own planet.

Once we understand or realize what is happening, and how it’s happening we become awaken and realizes how to live our life. I believe life should not be spend in search of happiness as happiness comes along with awakenings. The more awake we become, the more we realize the reality, the more we feel the life, and therefore, the more happiness prevails inside us. So, we don’t need any kind of magical power to transform or change our world. We have all of the power and energy we need inside ourselves already, we just have to discover it, we just have to understand it, we just have to realize and feel it.

Lots of love

Reason

When you realize and understand how things actually are, you would feel much more comfortable with all the things around you, with all the things in this whole world, or with all the things in this whole universe, because as of now you know the fact that there is a reason behind everything. Yes! I do believe there lies reason behind everything, and if you want to change, modify or abolish something then you have to understand the reason first, you have to resolve the reason first. In a nutshell, there lies a solution in the reason itself.

and The Reason is Here – The Universe and Connection

How we are all interconnected? This post is just a brief explanation of my last post. The post where I’ve written “The universe is full of wisdom and if you try to learn about it a little, if you try to understand about it a little then at some point it will teach you how we all are connected with each other and with all the things. In the period you try to understand about the universe, you will suddenly realize how a single perception, how a single conception plays a role in the humans life.”

There are reasons why I’ve written that and if you really want to know the reasons behind it then read the following things.
I’m just trying to explain it as briefly as I can. So, here’s it:

How can you say that we are made up of atoms? The answer to this question is not much difficult. We know that cells are made up of molecules, molecules are made up of atoms; humans and all the beings are made of cells and hence, we are made of various molecules and atoms. Now from where did these atom come from and how were they made? The answer to these questions lies in the creation of the universe. Long ago when the universe formed, at that time subatomic particles assembled into atoms and they formed hydrogen atoms. Hydrogen, the first element ever formed in the universe, the simplest type of atom. After that as the universe aged other elements were also created and that’s why it is said that every element on earth, except for the lightest was created in the some massive stars.

Now, we can say that every element in the periodic table aside from hydrogen is essentially a stardust as hydrogen is a big bang dust. So, lets see how much we are made up of stardust, and to know that we have to exclude hydrogen as it’s a big bang dust not a stardust.

Our body is composed of billions of billion atoms and in all these atoms some of them are hydrogen. Most of the hydrogen in our body floats around in the form of water and water usually makes up 55%-78%(approx.) of the human body and hydrogen only accounts for 11% of that water mass and from this, we can say that 92.5-93.7%(approx.) of the mass in our body is stardust. Hence, we are all made up of stardust and if you include hydrogen too then we are all made up of atoms, which were created in the universe long ago. Calcium in our bones, Iron in our blood, all were created in some massive stars!

However, I’m well aware of the fact that the truth can be a lot different from the theories, physics, philosophies, facts, understanding or everything and it can be a lot crazier and astonishing than we can even imagine. But so far, this is what I think about us and the universe, this is what I’ve learned and it fits into my understanding.

The Universe and Connection

The Universe, our connection with it.

The universe is full of wisdom and if one try to learn or pay a little attention to it, if one try to understand about it a little then at one point somewhere it will amaze you how we all are connected with each other and with all the things. In the time period when you’re trying to understand about the universe, you will suddenly realize how a single perception, how a single conception plays a role in our life. The universe is amazing, so are you, let the universe be your teacher, a lot to learn from its infinity.

What Is Time?

What Is Time?

Everyone knows what time is. It is what we measure in minutes, hours, days, etc and we follow it with clocks and calendars. In simple words, it is a dimension along which events are ordered from the past through the present into the future, it is a dimension along which we measure the durations of events and the intervals between them. Don’t you think time is more than this statement? Ever you wonder, what is time? Is there something more about time?  Is it just what clock and calendar measures or something more? What is time actually?

Time is a concept, it’s a self-evident concept. We all know about it, don’t we? But there is more than that, there is a lot more about time. There are many perceptions about time, there are many theories which explains what actually time is. Early in the back days, people used sun and stars instead of clocks. Humans always felt the need of the concept of time. This post is about the time but I don’t want to go much deeper into this topic as this topic is too broader to explain with lots of theories, philosophies, physics and then of course my own perceptions about time and I don’t want to make this post too complicated to understand.

Here’s a few words on this topic, a few words to explain what I think about time in very simple words:

Time is basically divided into past, present and future, so lets start with past. Anything which happened doesn’t matter whether it’s known to you or not, it is past. Present is infinitesimal and future doesn’t exist, it’s just based upon the events of past and present. Everything which is happening right now can contribute to the future of anyone. The things someone did in the past, the things someone is doing in the present can play a part in shaping someone’s present in the future including his own present of the future. Future is a projection created by our imagination, knowledge, experiences or by the acts of anyone. When you draw something with a pen on a piece of paper, the things you have drawn is past and the thing you are drawing is present, it’s just all about the touch of the tip of pen to the paper and as soon as it touches the paper present becomes past and future becomes present, that’s how small is the present and all the things you are about to draw is a future. So past, present and future they all exist without the concept of time.

Lets try to go little deeper in this concept. Time is a concept to measure the motion of anything or the change in anything, considering the motion of all particles; the motion of atoms. It’s a concept to measure the motion or the change in the whole universe. How do we measure anything like if we have to measure weight? We just compare it with some kind of standard that we have defined. By comparing something with a particular standard we calculate or measure the unknown things, that’s how we do it. We have created standard to measure things and to measure motion or change we have created the concept of time, like miles per hour, 24 hours is equal to one complete rotation of the earth on its axis, then one revolution of the earth around the sun is equal to 365 days(one year), etc. It shows that when we are dealing with time we are actually dealing with some standard of motion. When there were not any clocks as we have now, people used to measure time with the help of position of the sun and stars. We always felt the need of such concept and it’s a part of our living. If we didn’t have clocks then we would be depending on some other things and we would make some other concept to measure the events, changes and motion. If somewhere in the universe there’s a life then it’s possible that they might have created some other concept as we have created the concept of time. Time is attached with the motion and forces. It depends upon the motion and the forces of atoms, it depends upon the motion and the forces of everything which exist in the whole universe as everything is made up of atoms.

From the above written post, we can conclude that time is just a standard to measure motion and change, a standard created on the base of motion and forces, and that’s why it changes at different points in the universe. Existence of anything doesn’t depend upon the time;  past, present and future are not time dependent. Time is just a concept that we have defined. So I don’t believe in the possibility of time travel; to me the concept of time travel doesn’t make any sense, you can’t go back in the past, you can’t turn an omelet into an egg. However, nothing is sure as reality is too deep and there is no deep reality. Lastly one more thing, we can go to the future and we are going there right now as the present is infinitesimal!

Random Thought

Thoughts of Vikas SharmaEverything which exists has something to offer to others irrespective of their size, there is something to learn from everything which has existence in the whole universe. It doesn’t matter whether we can reach them or not, whether we can see them or not; all you have to do is just pay attention to those things which makes you think or wonder, which attracts you in anyway and then learn from them if you can.

Show In The Sky

Perseid meteor shower show in the sky.

How about watching a delightful Perseid meteor shower show in the sky on this weekend?

Here’s something about this event:

A meteor shower is a celestial event in which a number of meteors are observed to radiate from one point in the night sky. The Perseid meteor shower is one of them, this kind of event occurs when our planet the Earth crosses the path of a comet( in this case, it’s comet Swift-Tuttle) and sweeps into a stream of space debris. When a piece of debris hits the atmosphere it vaporizes, leaving a temporary glowing trail behind. The Perseid meteor shower happening around the world for the past few days will reach its peak during on 11 and 12 of August, it means we may see a beautiful and delightful meteor shower show with large number of meteors coming down the same track in groups or one by one and illuminating the sky with a numerous streaks of light if clouds doesn’t spoils the show. It can be enjoyed best with the naked eye.

The Perseid meteor shower occurs every year between the period of July to August, this is not a first time it’s happening. The earliest record of Perseid meteor shower activity comes from the Chinese annals, the ancient Chinese sky watchers first documented the meteor event in 36 AD and it’s not the only meteor shower occurrence in the sky, there are other meteor showers also. Like all meteor showers, the Perseids are named for the constellation from which they appear to radiate. They appear to radiate from the constellation Perseus in the northeastern sky and hence, the name derives in part from the word Perseides, a term found in Greek mythology referring to the sons of Perseus. Though the name derives in part from the word Pereides, the constellation has nothing to do with where the meteors were born. The Perseid  meteor shower are probably the most-watched meteor shower because of its impressive display.  The meteors can flash into view anywhere in the sky as long as constellation Perseus is above the horizon. If you can then do have a watch at this meteor shower on this weekend, you will be delighted by this beautiful meteor shower!

We are all Explorers

I’m just trying to put my thoughts in front of you all on exploration, its importance and why do we explore? I’m not writing any fundamental things about exploration and what we should explore and how should we explore. I don’t think that telling this kind of things make any sense as this topic is individualistic and too broader to explain. I’m not even trying to convince anyone that we should explore the things around us or the things which are out of our reach. I’m just expressing my own views on this topic, that’s all! Some of you might agree with my thoughts fully, some of you might agree to some extent and some of you might not agree with me at all. In any case, if you wish then you can add your comments or thoughts after reading this post. So here I go!

It’s cool to be the first one to go where no one else has been before. Don’t you think that? HAHA! In my perspective, we are all explorer, including all other living beings. Exploration is much more than going to a place where no one else has been before. Exploration is a basic instinct to survive. Exploration is a way to deepen the mysteries, it’s a way to understand this world and the whole universe. Exploration provides purpose, seeks purpose and defines it. With exploration we become and we are always becoming. We are all explorers, we are all seekers. We keep on exploring things around us and sometimes we didn’t even notice that we are exploring something, something which is around us or maybe not. Our mind is always ready to explore the things, we just have to put our will and have to discover our area of interest. When you travel to a place where you haven’t been before then what comes in your mind? Don’t you want to explore that place? Don’t you want to find out what’s there in that place? Exploration is always followed by curiosity; curiosity is a trait of exploration. When we explore something it certainly raises some newer questions in our mind and to find the answers we have to explore more till we get our answers. The more we explore the more we learn and the more we gain knowledge.

Exploration has no limit. Some people like to explore their imagination by looking at all the angles of their imagination. Exploration can be of any type and it can be anywhere, like a person walking down a beautiful park full of people and then that person tries to explore that area automatically, that person tries to explore its every parts with some different perspective and gaining some knowledge from it. Some people tries to explore the world by taking photographs of the world around them. Exploration can be physical, it can be mental or it can be anything. Some people tries to explore themselves and some tries to explore the world by traveling to different places. For exploring anything, it doesn’t matter that our hands can reach that place or not, our eyes can see it or not and our bodies can travel there or not. We are always fascinated by the universe and therefore, we always try to explore it and it doesn’t matter whether we can reach out there or not, we will still be exploring it like always. Some people like to explore the laws of universe, physics and other. There is always something you can explore about the laws of universe and physics. Who knows, one day these laws might fall but for now, they are still what make our universe go round.

There is a special kind of pleasure we get from exploration. Going out to a some place and then returning back to the home but by some other route which is unknown to you and this will makes us feel good that there is another way to return back to the home and that’s what exploration can teach us. Exploration is the ability we have which let us to see beyond our horizon and beyond ourselves to ensure a future for our civilization. Exploration is in are thoughts, it’s in our behavior, it’s in the behavior of all the living beings. Our civilization will one day may live on Mars and beyond when we will run out of resources on Earth or maybe we will find some other alternative ways or things. So one have to explore to find new resources and areas which will help us to survive anywhere whether on this planet or on somewhere else. By exploration, one day we may find out the answers to some of the questions about our own origins. How did life begin on Earth? Is there life on any other planet? How did the universe originally form? How did the moon, our planet and the other originally form? Exploration has no limit, from microscopic to the macroscopic, from ocean to the universe, from bacteria to the space, all are in the field of exploration.

Reality Behind The Reality

Reality is an illusion. What is Reality? In simple words, reality can be defined as the true situation and the problem that actually exist in life in contrast to how you would like life to be or it can be defined as a thing that is actually experienced or seen in contrast to what people might imagine. Well! That’s what the word ‘reality’ means, but that’s not what the reality is all about. Let’s have a deep dive into the reality!

It’s not necessary that my reality is your reality. Reality is subjective, consisting of perceptions and ideas. From one’s point of view, the things which are something to someone, might be something different from someone else point of view. The things we feel and see is reality for us. It’s our idea and perception about the things that shapes our reality and we can have different ideas and perceptions about the same thing. So the question arises, what is absolute reality? Well! I can’t say anything about it; perhaps it’s too deep to understand absolute reality. Dreams seem very real when we are asleep but when we wake up we realize that what seemed so real when we were dreaming was just in the mind, we realize that it was just the dream, not the reality. Let’s take another example, for a small child or for a person who doesn’t know that stars are not visible at the day time due to sunlight, they would have some other perception or idea about this thing, they might believe that star just comes out in the night and disappear in the day, but the fact is stars doesn’t disappear, they are still there at their place. It’s like as more we learn and know about the things, there can be some change in the way we look at the things and therefore, our reality changes with our knowledge. We may have different views and opinions on one object but this doesn’t change the object, object doesn’t change depending upon our thoughts about them. They exist objectively whether or not we think about them, observe them, measure them or ignore them.

We all have our own world of reality; we observe things and then create our reality based on our knowledge, ideas and perceptions. It’s the observer who creates reality and we all are observer, observing the things around us. Whatever you observe is instantly real to you but this doesn’t means that anything which are not in your field of observation just doesn’t exist like I have stated the example of stars. Have you ever thought you heard something when actually there was nothing? Have you ever thought you saw someone and when you looked there, there was no one? Have you ever felt that the things you are experiencing or the things you are seeing, you have already seen and experienced in the past but actually who haven’t; have you ever felt the déjà vu? Have you ever looked at an illusion and been deceived that one line was longer than the other but actually it wasn’t? And there are examples of mirage and many other optical illusions. Aren’t there hundreds of occasions when we do deceive? This simply shows that our mind can get deceived, we can make reality which is not actually the reality or it’s just the reality for one person and for other person the things can be different. It is possible that things as we perceive them are not that way at all, sometimes things can be a lot different from our idea or observation about them.

There are few theories about multiverse(it is the hypothetical set of multiple possible universes) which implies that there are multiple realities where every possible outcome is played out in a parallel universe. It’s impossible to prove this hypothetical theory but it’s an interesting hypothetical theory. What if there’s any truth in this hypothesis? Then will there be multiple realities? Are we living in past, present or future at the same time? Does our human brain perceiving just one possible interpretation of the ultimate reality? Our understanding of the universe is very much limited. What if our some of the current theories will get proved wrong? Then will we still have the same perception about the reality? The reality, the truth is out there but it’s complicated, will we ever understand it? Perhaps, we can one day!  Moreover, it can be much more astonishing and crazier than we can even imagine.

Have a good day ~ Vikas Sharma

Journey to the Edge of the Universe?

Journey to the edge of the universe.

Few things I would like to share about the Universe with all of you. So, here I go:

  • We all heard about Big Bang theory but ever you wonder where did the Big Bang happen? Well! Answer to this question is, it occurred everywhere in the Space.
  • There is a common assumption that the Big Bang was an explosion that occurred in an empty space and then that explosion expanded into the empty space. This assumption is wrong; Big Bang theory isn’t about explosion in the space. Space and time were created in the Big Bang. According to the Big Bang theory, at the beginning of the universe, the space was completely filled with matter. The matter was originally extremely hot and very dense and then expanded and cooled to eventually produce the stars and galaxies we see in the universe today. Although space may have been concentrated into a single point at the Big Bang, it is equally possible that space was infinite at the Big Bang. In both scenarios the space was completely filled with matter which began to expand.
  • The Universe is probably about 14 billion years old, but the estimations vary. One problem with working out the age of the Universe is that there are stars in our galaxy which are thought to be older than 14 billion years; older than the estimated age of the Universe. So, either the stars must be younger, or the Universe older.
  • We can’t say anything about what existed before Big Bang. Some theories suggest that our universe is part of an infinity of universes called a multiverse which are being continuously created. This is possible but very hard to prove.
  • The universe we live in is expanding continuously. We know this because we see galaxies and groups of galaxies steadily moving apart in the universe. This expansion has been occurring since the universe was formed billions of years ago in a very hot, dense event that is known as Big Bang. The universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. Although at any local point within the universe, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, this is not true for the entire universe. There is no limit on how fast space can expand and there is no center of the expansion, the universe is simply expanding at all points. Observers in any galaxy see most of the other galaxies in the universe moving away from them.
  • We named our galaxy as Milky Way and our galaxy, the galaxy we live in is one among the billions in space and it contains billions of stars. Now you can imagine how giant is the Universe!
  • There may be a huge black hole in the very middle of the most of the galaxies. It is known as super-massive black hole. It is believed that possibly all galaxies, including the Milky Way, contain super-massive black holes at their centers. And it is also believed that if you fell into a black hole, you would stretch like spaghetti. There are white holes too which spray out matter and light like fountains.
  • The Universe may neither  has a center nor an edge, because according to Einstein’s theory of relativity, gravity bends all of space-time around into an endless curve.
  • Just for a fact, light travels at exactly 299,792,458 meters per second in a vacuum (about 300,000 kilometers per second or just over 1 billion kilometers per hour). As a comparison, sound waves travel at a paltry 343.14 meters per second (about 1,235 kilometers per hour), almost a million times slower than light waves, a day in Mercury lasts approximately as long as 59 days on earth and the red color of Mars comes from the rusted iron in its soil.
  • Ever wonder how can we calculate the force of gravity between two celestial bodies? We all can calculate it if we know the masses and the distance between the celestial bodies. Just multiply their masses together and then divide the total by the square of the distance between them. It’s a Newton’s law!
